Kumi sensei  is the best language teacher I have ever had. I started studying with her in 2009 when I was over my head in beginner Japanese classes that left me in tears. A friend recommended her and there was no looking back! Japanese can be very disorienting for a Westerner, but Kumi sensei broke it down and made everything clear. Finally the language began to make sense and I started to have fun. Kumi sensei is positive, encouraging and patient! She also knows a great deal about Japanese and Western culture, so our conversations are always enjoyable and I have learned much about Japan from her as well. If you want to have fun learning Japanese with lively lessons at your pace, then I recommend her language school wholeheartedly. 

I’ve tried Duolingo, classes, apps, workbooks and nothing has been more beneficial than speaking with teachers! Nothing will beat having actual conversations with someone and having someone that can you help you navigate being culturally respectful is everything. Apps are wonderful entry points, if you really want to be serious about learning then I think you will get the most out of working with MEBUKI Japanese School! 

Kumi-sensei has been my Japanese teacher for many years and she has always been very supportive and professional. When there are particular grammar points that I struggle with, she always prepares exercises for the next class which narrow in on the elements that I am having difficulty with. Additionally, she opens each class with some conversation practice to ensure that while learning grammar points and vocabulary, you are also able to actually use your Japanese to hold a real conversation. I highly recommend Kumi-sensei’s services to anyone thinking about learning Japanese.
